We have been designing sites since Netscape was the only browser available. Some things are different, the technology, the bandwidth, the expectations of the users. While many factors have evolved, some requirements remain constant. The site still has to be easy to use -- it needs to fulfill a purpose in the most effective, efficient way possible. The process remains the same in many ways, it's just a lot more clear now than we started doing this in 1993. You need to understand your end users, their goals and objectives. Create an information architecture that is intuitive. Create a visual hierarchy that is very clear. The user interface (UI) has to work for your intended audience and the site must be attractive with valuable content.
Many of our sites are database driven and are built with a content management system (CMS) which enables users to update the content without the knowing how to write HTML code. We have a large portfolio of sites, everything from large dot com companies to university and college sites.
Our sites are built to conform to the standards of W3C and WAI compliance and ADA 508 compliance as well. We adhere to the web standards (XHTML Strict, CSS-1, CSS-2, Javascript, XML, etc.) where possible.
